Topsail Island

Dana and I took Sage to the beach for the first time. She's been awful close to the coast before but this time she got to see SAND and OCEAN.
Personally, I don't think she was really impressed.  I believe it's because her swing has an ocean noise which she hears all the time. She probably felt like she was at home...

The beach we went to is on Topsail Island in NC. There is a sea turtle rehabilitation hospital on the island that we thought would be cool to check out. Turns out you can't take pictures. Apparently, turtles don't like flashes. Who knew? It was neat to see the turtles up close and they are HUGE in person (in turtle?). It was a tad disappointing because it's literally a shack/garage size building that sort of looks like a shack/garage. It's full of these large buckets that the turtles live in and rehabilitate. There is a volunteer by each turtle who tells you all about what type of turtle it is/size/age, what happened to it, and estimated hospital stay. There were even two turtles that were "lifers." One had a permanent air bubble under his shell so he's destined to float on the top of the water for the rest of his life and one was blind. Considering the turtles there all will live to be over 100 years old it's kind of sad to think that when Sage is about 80 that turtle will still be there...
But anyhow, it was pretty interesting :) Here is the sign since it's the only picture I could take...
