Week 3

Sage is now 3 weeks old. And as I sit here she is rocking in her little lamb swing. She's on the fence deciding if she's perfectly content doing that or if I need to hold her. It could go either way...
3 weeks...it's amazing how long that seemed in pregnancy but it's flown by now that she's here. Everyone said that would happen...
I had every intention of sitting down to type out a really detailed birth story. I really did. I don't think I would have posted it on the blog but it would have been interesting to have for Sage to read one day (or for me to pull out if my crazy mind ever gets the idea to want to do it again).
Now that I'm three weeks out I find that it's slowly fading from memory. Seriously. Its practically gone from my memory. Oh, I can still remember the big stuff plenty fine but the rest is blurring out. This must be the phenomenon behind why people have multiple children...Maybe it's some sort of self defense/mind preservation thing because ya'll, Iam not normally a wuss but that experience sucked. Or maybe once I get more than 3 hours of sleep in a row my brain will start back up and I'll retrieve my memories.
Sage keeps doing well.  She goes through times when she's fussy but for the most part she's easily calmed. I LOVE watching her. She makes the goofiest faces all the time. She's still sleeping about 2-3 hour stretches at night so typically I get up about 4 times with her total. Once she eats, gets a diaper change and I rock her for a minute she usually falls right back to sleep. The whole thing lasts only about half hour tops. The kid is predictable as heck about when she wakes up. It's 6am. Ugh...z.z.z.zz....z.z.z...z.z.z.

The top picture is from her first bath. She was GREAT till we started having to lift her out of the water to scrub her down and then she decided it wasn't fun anymore. But it's understandable...I bet it was a bit chilly :)

  1. Awww! I love her so much! I hate to break it to you, but the phenomenon of mommy-brain will never completely abate! It will improve with more sleep, but it is never the same! I can't wait to meet Sage!!! She is so beautiful and I am totally in love! - Rachel
